Rich Goetz

“I bring over 41 years of experience in the natural gas maintenance industry, progressing from a maintenance helper with Waukesha to managing technicians, overhaul crews, and a natural gas engine and compressor rebuild center.

Along my path, I have completed most of all maintenance functions on natural gas engines such as Waukesha, Caterpillar, White Superior, Ajax, Cooper, Doosan, Cummins, IR and Worthington’s.  Compressor maintenance included both reciprocating and screws such as Ariel, Cooper, White Superior, Mycom, Sullair, Worthington, LeRoi and Dresser Rand.

In addition to hands-on work, I have contributed to equipment design, written compressor specifications, and supported fabrication, controls, emissions, and performance analysis. I also have experience managing crude oil gathering systems and overseeing multi-million-dollar operating and capital budgets. My career reflects strong technical expertise, leadership, and a proven ability to deliver projects efficiently and under budget.”

Highlights

  • Using my college degree as an industrial engine technician I have developed my career from being a technician trainee to managing a complete rebuild facility.

  • Sat on the advisory board for new construction of the technical wing at the Gillette Technical College.

  • Received invites from multiple technical colleges to participate in the advisory board meetings and discussions.

  • Helping so many young service technicians grow into very accomplished and recognized peers in their industry while enforcing good safety practices.

Accomplishments

  • Optimized specifications for compressors, both screw and reciprocation, in the Powder River Basin Coal Bed Methane expansion, while holding costs down to make projects profitable.

  • Tailored equipment, processes, and procedures for the Western Gas in-house overhaul crew to minimize down time and maximize employee involvement/morale during difficult overhauls; all while keeping safety at the forefront. With these we reached unheard of offline times for major equipment overhauls of less the 2 days on most major field overhauls.

  • Structured an in-house training program at Western Gas to help grow the industry’s new technicians into qualified technicians, which helped the maintenance group achieve very high safety standards
